NZ man captures incredible footage of his close encounter with an awesome orca.

Luke Reilly was stand-up paddle-boarding off the coast of New Zealand’s North Island, when he suddenly realised he had company.

A beautiful orca had swam up to his board and was checking him out.

“He popped up about 10cm away from the back of my board,” Reilly told 3NEWS. “I was a bit nervous thinking, ‘what’s this guy going to do?’”

Then the whale decided it should probably find out what paddleboard tastes like and had a little nibble on his board.

“I was a little bit freaked out,” Reilly admitted.
